Project Pacific: Day 24

DSCN2401

It takes a special type of person to say yes to a trip like this when they have little to no experience sailing.  When I first met Danielle, we were talking about dreams and life goals (probably while hiking.)  She mentioned wanting to live on a sailboat at some point.  I thought that was a great idea.

Not only does it take courage to ask your boss for a month off when you only started working there a few months ago, it takes courage to cross an ocean when you are trusting others to help you get there.  But Danielle didn’t even hesitate when I asked if she wanted to join.  Danielle and I share the same thirst for adventure, which has definitely only grown since I met her.  I’m continually inspired by her willingness to try new things, to be content lost in nature and am amazed at her humble attitude.

193nm  to go!  We are currently wing on wing right on course to Maui.  The wind is expected to die off this evening so we may be motoring the rest of the way if it does.

Christine’s note:  Wish me luck in connecting with them.  I fly out tomorrow then connect to Maui on the 14th – their arrival day.  I am hoping to see them pull into the customs dock!  Very exciting indeed!  I may not be able to post much for them tomorrow but will give a little update in the early afternoon before my flight.

And here is a close up … destination Kahului, Maui.
